Any donations you would like to make to Special Olympics can be made by sending a check made out to Arkansas Realtor's Association Special Olympics fund. The beautiful Captain Henderson House is used for weddings, receptions and lots of other functions. It is historic and serene. They will pamper you! This bed and breakfast was featured in the 2005 issue of "Southern Living" magazine. (See blog entry for picture(s)) Places to stay in Arkadelphia, Arkansas If you are traveling to Arkadelphia, you may need a nice place to spend a night or two. Here is one suggestion. If want to be right on Lake Degray, you could spend some time at Iron Mountain Lodge and Marina. There you will find beautiful cabins with jacuzzi tubs! These are located on Lake Degray. They will treat you like royalty! You can rent a ski boat, jet ski or house boat. Talk about fun!! See the link to their website on our website. Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University Henderson State University will hold spring commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 12th. At Ouachita Baptist University spring commencement exercises will be on Saturday May 13th. Arkadelphia High School Winterguard wins first place The Arkadelphia High School Winterguard performed at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas recently and won first place in the novice class. Arkadelphia High School presents "Annie Get your Gun". The musical "Annie Get your Gun" will be presented at 7 p.m. each day May 11-13 in the Arkadelphia High School Little Theatre. Tickets are $5 each. Arkadelphia High School listed among the best by "Newsweek". Arkadelphia High School was listed among the best at preparing students for college! Arkadelphia High School has been selected as one of the top schools among the 15,000 public high schools in the country by "Newsweek" magazine. The list "recognizes schools that do the best job of preparing students for college," according to the Newsweek article. The magazine uses a formula to determine which schools make the list each year. The formula takes the number of students who take advanced placement exams and divides that by the total number of graduating students for the year. Arkadelphia Relay for Life Participants in Friday night's Relay for Life walked for several hours raising funds for the American Cancer Society. A variety of fun activities kept everyone entertained throughout the evening! Arkadelphia High School Project Prom Arkadelphia High School students enjoyed a carnival atmosphere during Project Prom on Saturday night. Project Prom is a party for juniors and seniors that follows the prom each spring. Realtors...Home Sales HOME SALES POST BIGGEST JUMP IN TWO YEARSHome sales posted their biggest gain in two years in February, NAR said Thursday in a report that showed surprising strength in the housing market. The report showed that existing homes sold at an annual rate of 6.91 million in February, up from a revised 6.57 million pace in January. The 5.2% rise was the biggest gain since a 5.9% jump in February 2004. The surprise pickup in February sales may have been due partly to favorable circumstances in January, as the report is based on when sales close, not when contracts are signed. NAR's statement said the warmest January on record may have helped to spur sales, while a brief dip in mortgage rates that month also probably helped.
